I'm intimidated by the thought for two reasons:
1) ...I didn't know anyone was interested in what I think about and/or do with my time, and
2) where would I even begin?
So if you've got anything you're interested in reading about, I'm all ears (...eyes?). Ask away! It can be as broad as "parenting" or "friendship", or as specific as "what brand of sewing machine do you use to make the girls' clothes?" or "what kinds of activities do you plan for a 2 1/2-year-old to keep her from peeling the sheetrock off the wall while you're teaching the older girls?" or "what do you believe about...?"etc. Please leave your questions below. Thanks in advance :)
for His glory,

I would love to hear more about how you dress- I noticed skirts and a head covering for you, but not your girls.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela! I started wearing skirts full-time after my youngest was born, simply for comfort - and I found that I loved wearing skirts! I wear them ankle-length for modesty (and, in the cold New Hampshire winters, for warmth!). My oldest daughter loves the leggings & skirt or tunic-length shirt & leggings look; my middle daughter loves fancy dresses (the poofier and longer, the better!), and my youngest is more a twirly-skirt & leggings kind of girl. Since clothing style isn't a salvation issue - my own style is just that, my style! - we let them experiment with different looks. The only guideline we have is that it must be modest (we ask that it be from neckline to knees), and I am sure to share scripture about why we find modesty in dress to be important to the Lord.
DeleteIn terms of a headcovering, I have been doing my own research and reading on the practice of headcovering and the Lord convicted me about a year ago that I needed to cover all of the time. My daughters ask questions about it, and I read them the verses that God used to show me why. Again, it's not a salvation issue, so I don't ask them to do it just because I do. If the Spirit prompts them to cover, that's great, but I don't want to risk losing their heart because I'm forcing an external rule on their lives!
I hope that was helpful! Thank you for asking! Have a blessed week :)

Lisha, I so appreciate your attitude regarding what your girls wear. I started covering a few months ago, and one of the questions I was asked was, "are you going to make your girls wear one?". I responded that my oldest is old enough (18) to make up her own mind, and my younger (3) is too young yet, in my opinion. Wish I had thought of your mindset . . . to let the Spirit prompt them, not have Mom force something on them.
ReplyDeleteI am very much enjoying your blog. Blessings to you and your family!
